Make your Own Watercolor and Calligraphy Cards

At the beginning of the pandemic, I decided to find a way to stay in touch with friends and let them know that I think about them which would not involve a phone or a computer... on only a little.

I don't know about you, but I get as excited to get a postcard now as I was when I received an email in 1997.

I haven't kept many material memories from my childhood, but, for some reason, there's a box at my parents' full with all the letters and postcards I've received in my lifetime.

Two friends of mine are really good at written correspondence: one sends postcards, the other sends a yearly recap which includes personal anecdotes and pictures.

So yes, back to the pandemic... I was going crazy at home and was not only looking to being in touch with friends but also to staying busy and creative while under lockdown.

So here's what I did.

I texted friends and asked them what's the first word that would pop into their head.

Then I would use my watercolor and calligraphy supplies to craft a card, write whatever I wanted to tell them that would be worth writing on an actual physical piece of paper and mail it to them.

Here's what I used:

Oh, I also took pictures of the process because that's who I am.

Writing this, I realize that it's been a while since I last sent once. But also, will I ruin the surprise now that the whole story is on the interwebs? Nah, none of my friends read this blog anyway, or do you?
