My 10×10 Closet Challenge - Winter Edition (2018) - Day 5

Happy Friday!

Tomorrow I'm acting on my new year resolution and I'm taking a sewing class.

Do you have fun plans for the weekend?

My Day 5 Outfit

I'm not sure whether I've already said this. But this might be my favorite outfit of the entire challenge.

  • Cardigan (DIY) - Made in France (by my mother-in-law) - Similar
  • Dress (vintage) - The Yo Store, Portland, OR - Similar
  • Clogs - Sandgrens - Made in Sweden

Before you ask. My mother-in-law knitted this cardigan. I had totally forgotten that I had chosen this design when she asked me what gift I wanted for Christmas. So, you can imagine my surprise and excitement when I opened our annual delivery from France! It's the warmest and the coziest ever and I earned a new nickname: "shepherdess".

I would never be able to knit such a beautiful piece, but I did choose LEARN as my one-word theme for 2018. I've already signed up for a couple workshops (letterpress, herbal medicine) and also made a work-for-trade deal with a sewing studio here in Portland. Making (or trying to make) things yourself is a great way to get a sense of the time involved in crafting pieces and of their value ($1 t-shirts should not exist).

Bracelet - I just wanted to give a special mention to this bracelet that makes wearing a hair tie on your wrist look so good!

Style Notes

Like I said, this dress had to be complemented with heels to balance my silhouette a little better.

And the big chunky cardigan is a nice addition to contrast with the darkness of the outfit.

Once again, a 2 color outfit seems to be my favorite combination.

Do you knit or sew? What's one piece that you made and love? If you could master one skill, which one would that be?
