What a week it's been! I don't know about you, but I've felt the need to disconnect and focus my energy on or - better yet - channel my anxiety into a project.
I got white tees for $2 a piece a couple weeks ago at a local thrift store and had a little fun with them. After cleaning them - rookie mistake, I did not notice that they had nasty armpits stains - I experimented with different techniques- The first one I wanted to try was a natural tie-dye method but I ended up doing bundle-dying before summer was over and all the flowers had disappeared.
But I digress...
So last week, after tackling my mending pile, I still had some shashiko threaded on my embroidery needle and decided to ornate one of my white tees.
But I had to figure out what to embroider. I dedicated a whole Pinterest board to this project but ended up with the phrase "OK then".
I do not know what it means to you, but Octave started using it after watching Season 2 of Fargo.
Since I have no previous embroidery experience, I watched this video and freestyled from there. I used a small embroidery hoop to secure my workzone, handwrote my message with a pencil and went for it.
It's far from perfect, but it kept my mind off the election for a half hour...
Now that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have won the race, many empowering messages are coming to my mind and I'm ready to do this again.
What message should I embroider next?
