Knitting the Russel Beanie from We are Knitters

The curse is over, I managed to complete a knitting project!

It took a LOT of trial and error but I'm proud to have remained patient and succeeded.

I got my first knitting kit close to 10 years ago while living in Switzerland and got so frustrated that my mom ended up finishing to knit my scarf!

Fast forward to this year, and item 18 of my 21 for 2021 list: "Knit a sweater".

A sweater was a little bit ambitious, so I settled for a beanie to start my knitting hobby again.

I chose the Russel Beanie by We are Knitters. I love kits because they come with the tools, supplies, instruction booklet AND video instructions.

Without someone to sit next to me and show me how it's done, videos have been SO useful, I played and replayed them dozens of times while starting the project and every time I had to learn a new stitch.

Honestly, it's been HARD! Yes, I know it's only a beanie, 2 stitches and no more than 50 rows (look at me using the lingo!), but I had to start the project about 15 times before I finally got the hang of it.

A big thank you to Octave for encouraging me when I wanted to quit and for putting up with me when I would scream at him when he'd try to talk to me while I was knitting (I needed to FOCUS and count the freaking stitches - I eventually got a knitting register, it helped).

Any knitters in the house? What pattern are you working on? Are there useful tools you swear by?

My next project is gonna be the Rice Jumper, but I'm taking a couple days off to savor my success before this next pattern throws me in the pit of despair.
