My One-Word Theme for 2022

I usually chose my word of the year before I write down my list of goals for the new year, but I somehow had more inspiration to focus on small tasks rather than the big picture this time.

This is my 6th year choosing a theme for the upcoming year. My words have included, Routine, Learn, Grounded, and Prepare.

For 2022, the word I chose is BALANCE.

It did not come to me right away, but I ultimately came to the realization that it simply made sense.

I've been struggling for the past couple of years with my place in the world and this country, juggling between moves and visa applications.

I've been working to feel a sense of routine and belonging, and it eventually all boils down to finding... balance.

This year (the third one that we are going to live in a pandemic) I want to focus less on the material and more on the intangible.

I'm working remotely, connecting virtually with friends and family (travel is still complicated), and don't have yet a place to call my own (as in where I can take down walls and plant trees whose fruit I'll eat over the next decades :)

I want to find a way to live a meaningful life where I am at right here, right now.

Balance can be achieved in so many ways.

Literally, I am going to keep practicing yoga and may or may not be able to do a crow pose someday.

I mentioned in my 22 for 2022 list that I want to tweak my diet to find the right balance and identify triggers for my migraines and other hormonal issues.

I want to find the right balance between work and play by scheduling a proper workday routine.

Financial stability is also high on my priority list...

I've subscribed to Skillshare and bookmarked a whole bunch of classes, I'm also starting my Master Gardener training this month!

I've signed up for Yoga with Adriene's 30-day yoga journey for January and also started training with weights in our garage!

A couple of these goals sound super serious but I am determined to have fun along the way. Nothing is pressing, nothing needs major work, I just want to make my life more fun, more meaningful, and more impactful.

I want to learn and share, support others and feel supported, feel powerful, and empowered.

So this is my intention for 2022. I hope you'll follow me on this journey and share your own "words of the year" with me along the way.

Now, it's your turn, if you had to choose one word, or a short phrase, to sum up what you want to focus on in the new year, what would it be?
