Working from home and moving from city to city over the past couple years, I've quickly realized that Internet and Instagram would play a major part in the way I'd meet new friends.

But little did I know that I would find not one but four amazing ethical fashion bloggers in my new hometown!

I've had the chance to collaborate with Ellie last year and was honored to be on a panel with Allison, Andrea and Ellie last spring during the Sustainable Fashion Forum.

This time, we're reunited for a special collaboration with a brand I've had on my radar for a few years now: Nisolo.

Nisolo is an ethically-sourced leather shoe brand that supports craftsmen in Peru. The leather they use is a by-product of the meat industry and the brand follows eco-friendly waste disposal practices.

The Paloma Mules

For my first pair of Nisolos, I decided to play it safe and chose a tried-and-true style: mules! So that's how I added the Paloma Mules in brandy to my fall closet.

Style

I like to wear mules and clogs with crop pants, or to just roll up the bottom of my jeans and leggings (who else thinks showing one's ankles is sexy?).

I haven't been very adventurous for this first try and opted for a monochromatic outfit to pair them with, but I got more accustomed to them over the next couple days and have been playing around quite a bit with my fall capsule wardrobe (to be continued...).

The brandy color is a classic and pairs really well with blues and browns alike.

Size

I usually have a hard time ordering the right size for shoes so I figured chosing a mule would be a safe bet.

I ordered my actual size (8) and it was the right choice. They fit perfectly!

Comfort

My feet were pretty sensitive after I came back from a long hiking trip and the Palomas were the first pair of "closed" dress shoes I was wearing after the summer. So I did get a blister on my toes the first time I wore them.

I then decided to wear them at home with a pair of socks for a little while and now they fit like a glove!

If you have sensitive feet like me, you can try this solution or use an anti-chafe balm.

Care

The leather seems prone to scratching. This is not my first pair of leather shoes, so I'm not mad about it. Just like a leather jacket, they will gain more character over time. And I've got my true-and-tested (Portland made) shoe care kit to give them some TLC when the time comes.

I did add a sole protector to the naked leather to protect it from the elements and make sure my Nisolos would last a lifetime.

If you're considering getting a pair for yourself, I honestly highly recommend them. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions, I’ll do my best to answer them!

Which pair is your favorite? I love my Palomas but am definitely thinking about stealing Allison's Chelseas. I have to check what her shoe size is ;)
